Ready to wet a line in the heart of San Francisco Bay? Our 8-hour shared fishing trip is the perfect way to get out on the water and experience some of the best angling the Bay Area has to offer. Whether you're a seasoned pro or it's your first time holding a rod, you'll feel right at home on our spacious charter boat. We've got room for up to six anglers, so gather your crew or make some new fishing buddies as we hunt for whatever's biting that day.
We'll cast off bright and early, usually around 6 AM, to make the most of prime fishing time. As we cruise out of the harbor, you'll get a chance to soak in those iconic San Francisco views – the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and the city skyline. But don't get too distracted, because once we hit our fishing grounds, it's game on! Our experienced captain knows all the local hotspots, from the rocky shorelines where the halibut hang out to the deeper channels where striped bass cruise. We'll anchor up or drift, depending on what's working best that day, and our crew will be right there to help you bait up, cast out, and hopefully reel in some keepers.
No need to lug your tackle box down to the pier – we've got you covered with all the gear you'll need for a successful day on the water. We use top-quality rods and reels suited for Bay Area fishing, and our crew will show you how to use them if you're new to the game. We'll be using a mix of techniques, from bottom fishing with live bait for halibut and white seabass, to trolling for stripers or salmon (when in season). Don't worry if you're not up on all the lingo – our friendly crew is always happy to explain what we're doing and why. And hey, if you've got a favorite lure you swear by, feel free to bring it along!
"Never did the trip, got canceled and never heard back, but was charged for an 8 hr trip" - Justin
San Francisco Bay is home to a diverse mix of fish species, and what we'll be targeting depends on the season and conditions. Halibut are always a favorite – these flat-bodied ambush predators can grow up to 50 pounds in the Bay, though most keepers are in the 10-20 pound range. They're known for their tasty white meat and put up a good fight when hooked. Spring through fall is prime halibut season, so if you're joining us then, there's a good chance you'll tangle with one of these doormat-sized fish.
Striped bass are another Bay Area staple. These hard-fighting fish migrate into the Bay in spring and stick around through fall. They're voracious predators, hitting both bait and lures with gusto. Stripers in the 5-15 pound range are common, but trophy fish over 30 pounds are caught every year. There's nothing quite like the thrill of a big striper smashing your lure on the surface!
If we're lucky and the timing is right, we might even get into some salmon action. Chinook (king) salmon pass through the Bay on their way to spawn in the Sacramento River system. These silver bullets are prized for both their fight and their rich, flavorful meat. Salmon fishing is heavily regulated, so we'll only target them when the season is open – usually late summer through fall.
